FC Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Match at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend

Barça revealed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome the Basque side in domestic competition over two years since relocating to allow renovations to start.

“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside under the licence granted. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.

Preparatory Events

Barça organized a fan-accessible workout inside the stadium earlier this month. The club said they are seeking authorization by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht next month at the stadium. Their recent games have been held at the Olympic Stadium.
