A technical fault at Edinburgh's air traffic control meant no aircraft could enter or leave the facility.

Air travel have restarted at Scotland's primary international airport after a significant air traffic control outage brought the international hub to a standstill.

All aircraft movements were stopped due to an technical fault that occurred at about 08:30.

Several flyers reported being stuck in jets at the stand while the issue persisted.

Operations Restart with Continued Disruption

A statement indicated at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

That said, ongoing issues are likely to affect schedules. Flights to London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been axed, with a host of additional flights facing hold-ups.

Officials had earlier anticipated that a significant number of movements could be affected.

"Passengers are advised to get in touch with their carrier for the most up-to-date details on their individual travel plans," was the consistent advice.

The airport attributed the full ground stop to an technical fault with its air traffic control provider.

Passengers continue to be advised to confirm the details of their flight before heading to the terminal as knock-on effects are managed.
