Nearly 55,000 families have currently been harmed by the storms, with their items and temporary homes damaged.

Persistent rains over the past week have worsened the precarious situation of the hundreds of thousands of displaced residents in the territory, according to aid agencies.

"Horrendous" Conditions Poses Serious Risks

A official detailed the previous night's conditions as "terrible", with downpours so severe that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the ground.

"These conditions was truly horrendous for the residents. The storms were so strong... And the gusts were so powerful," noted the representative.

There is grave anxiety that young ones sheltering in makeshift shelters in damp attire will fall victim to hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Fatalities and Widespread Loss

Medical officials have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from exposure and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures caused by the harsh conditions.

Other reports put a greater fatality count. Authorities reported that several structures had collapsed completely and many others had sustained partial collapse.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by the weather.
  • More than 40 designated refuges inundated.
  • Numerous individuals required to find new shelter.

Assistance Operations Considered Insufficient

Groups have stepped up shipments of shelter, warm covers and garments since the ceasefire started, but they emphasize there is remains not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Officials are striving constantly to provide that relief and to hand it out, but the magnitude of the requirements is so enormous that we still have many thousands of families and children who are truly struggling each evening," stated one spokesperson.

Ongoing Issues and Truce Plans

The next stage of the agreement includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the removal of military forces, and other terms.

Aid organizations have stressed the need for "expanded and ongoing aid to address pressing and future requirements."

The hostilities was sparked by an assault in the autumn of 2023. Following military operations have resulted in a significant number of lives lost in the region, as per official data.
