"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes continued.

He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."

In a distinct essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.

"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
