This event led to the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the multi-storey parking facility.

Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a luggage theft where a suspected irritant spray resulted in harm at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two robbery charges and charges for using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.

The charges follow an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage taken after getting out of a parking garage elevator, police said.

A toddler was caught up in the incident in the event. Five people were taken to a medical facility and were eventually allowed to go home.

The incident – which authorities stated was not part of a series and deemed non-terroristic – caused train delays and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a limited duration.
