Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday night. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital follows the sports world shared its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
